On the morning of April 8 of local time, the Chinese medical team arrived at the Rangoon international airport. Myint Htwe, Myanmar Minister of Health and Sports, and Chen Hai, Chinese Ambassador in Myanmar went to greet them. Myint Htwe expressed that it is a great success for China to contain the epidemic and Myanmar will learn from the experience China has got.
The Chinese medical team, made up of 12 members, includes experts in various fields such as respiratory disease, infection prevention and control, intensive care, nursing, and laboratory testing and TCM. They also brought along with a donation of medical supplies weighing 5.3 tons, including automatic nucleic extractors, QF-PCR equipment, EP Centrifuges, lab reagents, 8,500 medical N95 masks, 60,000 disposable medical masks, 5,500 protective gowns, a batch of TCM and western medicine drugs.
The team is expected to stay in Myanmar for 15 day, during which, they will share the anti-epidemic experience, give field trainings. They will also work together with the local health institutions to improve the speed to detect and test the suspected cases.
